And when all is said
And when all is done
The mourners have come
The friends have gone
There is suddenly silence
An empty room
Nobody there now
A heart filled with gloom
Knowing the best possible thing
Has happened there
Is not much help now
Alone in this chair
For he's really gone
Not just for a week
But for ever
We'll never more speak
Tomorrow I'll dust off
This aching heart of mine
And store the loving memories
On my heart's shrine
But for tonight I will sit here
And wrap my arms around me
Sit here and contemplate
The soul that's been set free.
In loving memory of my dad.
